<p>Update: around 11pm today I heard screeching tires outside my home office window.&#160; I looked up to see a car frequently at the house across the street (presumably a relative) come to a stop and the driver towards the garage with a green bag in his hand.&#160; I thought it odd, but figured he had left something.&#160; Next thing I know, a cop is chasing him and they take off around the back of the house!&#160; They make two trips around, with the suspect at one point jumping on the porch and trying to open the door.&#160; It is at that point I realize I&#8217;ve seen him and car at that house on a regular basis.&#160; He&#8217;s a relative of the owners!</p>
<p>In a few minutes, several more police cars show up and they are congregate in the back of the house.&#160; After about 10 minutes, the front door opens and the cops begin filing out.&#160; The homeowner&#8217;s wife comes out with them and has a conversation, visibly upset but not animated, as they officer appears to be explaining the situation to her.&#160; Later they bring the suspect out in handcuffs and place him in the back of the patrol car.&#160; There is some activity still going on inside the home, with an office at one point walking out with a bag that has some type of white substance.</p>
<p>Over the next 90 minutes, more cars show up and my next door neighbor and I compare notes.&#160; He was in his garage and saw the car speeding down Bluegrass Pkwy, police car in pursuit.&#160; We later watch as an ambulance arrives and the suspect is placed on a stretcher and taken away.&#160; My neighbor overhears the officer telling the homeowners that he apparently swallowed something, though I witness him walk to the stretcher on his own.&#160; Still, I can appreciate the precautions they are taking.&#160; The car is photographed, fingerprinted and several bags of items, presumably personal, or removed.&#160; Interestingly, the homeowner is given the keys and parks it back in the driveway.&#160; </p>
<p>Phew!&#160; So that is not the way I had expected Saturday to begin.&#160; The street is clear now and we&#8217;ll get along with our day.&#160; Still, my heart goes out to my neighbors.&#160; We don&#8217;t know them well, but we are friendly and have chatted on occasion.&#160; Our hope is that they themselves are ok and have support of other family and friends as they deal with any ongoing matters related to this today.</p>
